Hi,

Im trying to install a component to a sibling directory and i cant seem to do it. For example. the app gets installed to:

UserSelectedLocation\MyCompany\MyApp

and i want to install some other files to

UserSelectedLocation\MyCompany\OtherFiles

but i seem to only be able to get at %InstallPath% which evaluates to:

UserSelectedLocation\MyCompany\MyApp

Im thinking, that you should be able to do this from the "files" view in gDesigner. Perhaps that should allow you to specify variables as folders and files get put wherever those variables evaluate to.

I just worked on something similar to what you seem to be describing. The only way I could get the "other" files to install to a sibling directory was to put them into a different componet that was setup to install to the sibling directory.

Have you tried adding those "other" files to their own componet and changing the install path there? That's what I had to do to install to a directory other than %installpath%

I agree with JohnNib - you should create a new component, place "other" filer into it, and define a destination path for this component.

What if I want to install one of my components to a second user-defined path?

Something like this:
Main Components Path: %InstallPath%
Specific Component Path: %ComponentPath%

How can I get the input and change the component path?

Thanks.
